Strange Coincidence

While doing research on the web I came across a site that points out a strange fact: a building in the US is in the shape of a Swastika, the symbol of Hitler's Nazi Party and one of the most despised icons of our times. Although the symbol has ancient meanings from various world cultures, it has come to signify the rise of the German fascism.

I've been unable to determine when the building was constructed but suspect it was made after World War II. If that's the case then the question that begs an answer is why it was built in this particular shape?

When the plans were made it would have been most obvious not only to the architect but also anybody involved in the approval and construction.

I'm not suggesting a sinister purpose in the choice of design, but why was this disturbing design selected? Perhaps they felt it was only visible from above and would go unnoticed. They didn't count on Google Maps and a net observer.

A similar example of creating the a huge image of a Swastika was created by a fan of Hitler in 1938. A group of larch trees were planted in a grove of evergreen pines. In Autumn the larches turn yellow and the twisted cross becomes visible. After it was discovered there were outraged protests causing the German government to chop down the offending trees in December 2000.

Wikipedia is an excellent resource for all types of information. Here's Wikipedia's description of the Swastika.

By combining a small section from an educational film about despotism from the wonderful Internet Archive Site I've created a QuickTime movie showing the location of the building in question.

Here's the

very short film.

The circled images in the film show San Diego locations in relation to the building in question.

The first circled image shows the building.

The second circled is of the world famous Hotel Del Coronado.

Both my parent's graves are in Fort Rosecrans Cemetary

along with thousands of military personel and their families,

in the final image of the film.
